The dreaded "E" word

I'll just say it.... EDITING.  I used to love it and now it's a thorn in my side. It whispers to me all hours of the day.  *you need to edit MM, not watch TV, not read, not play games on your iPhone.  Edit meeee*  See how annoying that is?

I'm been working on 3rd draft edits of MM since the beginning of August. And when I say "working", I mean mostly just staring at the computer screen and/or thinking about them.  I've actually got through half of them, but there's just no motivation to open the document. I want to see the story finished as much my writing partners, but I think I'm burned out a bit. When staring at the wall for 10 minutes seems like more fun, the project I'm trying to work on could be the problem...

Or...it could just be a case of the Nanos...

This scenario of needing a change sounds so familiar, doesn't it? The Nanos seem to hit me every October. The prospect of bright shiny new ideas are addictive! Funny thing is, this year's Nano is not exactly new...I'm going to start a complete new version of the story I abandoned last October (for Nano), code name: EOD. I'm writing in circles these days.

BUT!  I still have edits on MM hanging over my shoulder! As of today, I have 2 weeks till Nano. And if I was disciplined, I'd give myself about 25 pages a day as an assignment, but we all know how well I adhere to self-imposed assignments. *groans at self* Anyone have any ideas on how to make myself buckle down?!

haha, I'm pretty sure I could have written this exact post, down to the NaNos and editing this darned draft 3!

Good luck to you!

I'm doing NaNoReviMo this year, holding myself to two complete read-throughs during the month of November. You and Marisa should join me. We'll make it A Thing.

OOH! That' sounds fun Tammy! Maybe next year though. I'm all edited out right now. Need a new focus for a little bit. Edits come back at the beginning of the year.
