June was an awesome reading month! It's amazing what you have time for when you get through edits and stop watching netflix compulsively! :)
PARANORMALCY - So glad I finally got to read this one! Just like the other reviewers have said, it was a funny, delightful read. I didn't love the ending (thought it was a little rushed), but Evie is a great character. I'm actually kind of glad I waited to read it since SUPERNATURALLY comes out in a few weeks. Now I won't have to wait as long :)
DIVERGENT - OMG. If you haven't picked this book up...GO. GET. IT. NOW. Absolutely fantastic. It hit everything I was looking for in a story. Great characters, mystery, heart break, action, suspense, love, devotion, supportive parents, and nail-biting instances. And what's so great is that it makes you think about yourself and your own motivations in life. I might actually have a fit waiting for the sequel. That, or read it over and over again.
DELIRIUM - Beautiful cover, not so beautiful story. This one was slow to me. Nothing stuck out. I didn't love the main character, Lena, nor her crush interest, Alex. And something about the plot wasn't believable to me. Guess I don't believe in the
amor deliria nervosa disease :) I think if it had moved a little faster I probably would have liked it more.
MATCHED - This one started out fantastic. Immediately drawn into the plot, immediately in love with Cassia and Xander. Even the match banquet seemed perfect to me. Then she gets home and it all slows down. Boom. My interest starts to flail. I guess I just don't understand how you have this other guy, Ky, around half of your life, but only start taking an interest in them after the banquet. The story was filled with cliched thoughts and jumped from place to place. I didn't love Cassia's choices based on her options and felt they were not played right based on circumstances. But then again, given all that, the ending was interesting and enough to make me want to read the sequel.
CRYER'S CROSS - It always takes me a while to get into Lisa McMann's writing style. But then once I do, I love it. Once again, this story started out slow, but picked up nicely. It was spooky in a middle grade sense and the ending about killed me. I'd be a terrible person if I revealed the secret, but let me just say (type) that it gave me goosebumps and my stomach twist in disgust and anger. Good job, McMann.
